What are the markets of Saraiva?
Saraiva S/A Livreiros Editores (publishing house) is leader in the Brazilian law books industry and one of the main publishers in the elementary and high school textbooks and readers market. Saraiva has, in addition, publishing lines in areas such as Management and Administration, Accountancy and General Interest. In January 2001, Saraiva launched the Saraivajur.com.br portal, and began to sell proprietary legal content also through the Internet.
Livraria and Papelaria Saraiva S/A (Livraria Saraiva) is the largest bookstore chain in Brazil, both in terms of revenues and sales area. In addition to books, Saraiva´s Bookstores sell CDs, DVDs, VHS, ed stationery articles, multimedia and educational toys. In December 1998, Livraria started its on-line operations through its web site: saraiva.com.br.
In March, 2008 Livraria e Papelaria Saraiva S.A. has successfully concluded the negotiations for the acquisition of 100% of shares of Siciliano S.A.  
Siciliano, traditional company in the national retail market of books, established in 1928, is present in 13 Brazilian States, including the Federal District, and has 46 proprietary stores and 9 franchise stores.
On November 30, 2008, the holding company Livraria Saraiva was incorporated by the controlled company Siciliano. This reverse incorporation resulted in the creation of a new company, Saraiva e Siciliano.
